What is SriVaikhanasam
It is believed that Sage Vikhanasar was created from the mind (Maanaseeka Utbhavar) of Sriman NarayaNan, when many sages were reluctant to engage in the performance of AarAdhanam for Him in bhU lOkam because they were unsure of doing the right kind of ArAdhanam. They had no clue. Sriman NarAyaNa through viSEsha khananam (digging) created a new sage, named him VikhAnasar and empowered him to perform ArAdhanams for Him in His Vibhava and archAvatArams thru upadEsams on Veda, VedAntams and initiation into Gayatri/Saavitri mantrams. Purpose
The idea of this wiki based website is to provide information about SriVaikhanasam in general, our daily routines as SriVaikhanasas and also help answer any questions that we may have. While there is so much content about SriVaishnavam in general on the internet, there is a very little, if not any, found about SriVaikhanasam. There are also few websites for SriVaikhanasam that exist already but they all focus on matrimony, directory, advertisements etc. Creating such a content in a website is a great idea, but all of them fail to address the needs of those who want to learn about our traditions and perform our daily duties. The
Sris of our homes need to know what to perform, when and how to perform it, may it be cooking or puja rituals. The purushas must know about the nithya anushtAnams, i.e. how to perform daily routines such as sandhyavandhanams, perumal aradhanams etc.
Like many of you, I wanted to learn all this in my busy life schedule, and I stumbled across many places. There are books available about such things but they are sold only in India, also the relevant content available on the internet is not applicable to us most of the time. So I decided to create this Wiki so it can enable all of us to share our ideas. If not for us, our kids and the next generation need to know our traditions and practice then when they grow up.
I hope this website will help to address the afore mentioned problems and modern day challenges. This wiki will enable those who know about our agama, Sampradhayam etc to provide info so that all of us can learn and can benefit. Also making the website run as a Wiki, makes all of us become contributors and create interest among many.
